I love my parents and I love their love story. My dad proposed to my mom on April Fools Day – just in case. Luckily of me, she said yes, and they have been a model of matrimonial bliss for nearly 40 years.
To me one of their most romantic stories took place on their first anniversary. Dad wanted to do something special to show that he remembered every detail of the day. He had the florist recreate her bridal bouquet, and then presented it to his bride. It was a beautiful exact replica of the original that she carried up the aisle and then threw during the wedding reception. A portrait of my mom caressing the flowers of the 1st anniversary bouquet is still displayed in their bedroom, 35 years after it was taken. Ahhh, romance.
