The wedding gown is probably the most important piece of clothing that a woman will ever wear, it is usually the most expensive item she will buy and it is worn on one of the most important days of her life. It’s a big deal! So what do you wear underneath the gown?

At the bridal shop we have the brides try on the gowns with a long line bra and slip. Brides often ask why they should purchase the bra or slip when they already something similar at home. The strapless long-line bra gives you better posture, makes your silhouette look nice and gives you the support you need to hold up those heavy wedding gowns. Those bras are slimming! And you can wear the bra again…think summer halters or tube tops.

Bra cups are another option instead of the long line bra. Bra cups can be sewn into the gown for a low price and are great for backless or deep v-neck gowns.

As for the slip, (aka crinoline or the poufy stuff) it helps support and structures the gown. A slip is like the support beams in a house, it’s necessary! Of course there are exceptions to the rules: a sheath gown is a form-fitting gown and would require a regular dress slip.

Having the right foundations will guarantee great support and a great fit.
