Yes it is true, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.  When you see something at a friend’s wedding that you just love, incorporate the idea into your wedding.  It is okay, as long as you follow these simple rules.  First, if you copy an idea, don’t plagiarize.  Change it enough to make the idea your own.  Second, let the bride know that she was an inspiration to you.  “Your wedding was so great and memorable.  I hope that mine is the same.  I loved yours… so much, that I used it as my inspiration.”

If your wedding is copied by a friend, and she did not warn you ahead of time, don’t freak out.  Know that she thought so highly of your ideas that you inspired her to have a day just as memorable as hers.  This is her day.  Don’t ruin it or your friendship by making a scene.  Instead, just sit back and smile, knowing that the original is always better than the copy.
